A Little Photoshop Goes A Long Way

Image
A s my magazine is mostly based on artistic beauty and generally making pictures look appealing without taking too much away from how it naturally looks I mostly played around with lighting effects. Changing the lighting in a scene can change the mood of the picture and thus affect the viewers perspective. In this picture of my room on a rainy day the picture is exceptionally dark but still has a bit of light shining on it. However, I decided that adding a little more lighting would make it seem like more of a sunny shower and also adds a little more detail into the scene. To make it more realistic as well I decided to place the lighting at the upper right corner to further make the image look as if the sun is shining more intensely into the window. In the second picture of the ocean the one on the left is the original image. It can be seen that this image was taken in broad daylight while the sun was being covered by the clouds. I wanted it to be more dramatic however and...

Aesthetique Photo Shoot

Image
After paying a visit to the University of Miami’s zine collection and the Lowe art museum I was able to come up with various pictures I would like to include in my magazine. The art I photographed, much like pictures of real people, capture the beauty of not only a scene but also the natural aesthetic of people. The sculpture pictured here also is a piece of aesthetic beauty drawing on humanities enjoyment of symmetrical objects. The hanging design mixed with the lighting also adds dashes of color within the crystal making it an overall stunning view. The final picture here is an illustration within a hard cover edition of Marie Shelley’s Frankenstein. Much like photography of a scenery this illustration puts readers into the book and through photographing this illustration it adds another layer of  immersion due to the nature of this shot being in my point of view (which can also be said with the other pictures here.).

Artistic Table of Contents

Though I have chosen to deviate from the style of shutterbug quite a bit I decided to create a similar table of contents. My table of contents has all the essentials that shutterbug has but in a more streamlined fashion and instead of having multiple pictures with more articles on the adjacent page I chose to incorporate the use of a full image to create a more appealing image. As to me, the look of the magazine is just as important as the photos.
